  • 07 June 2009 | Danny Cohen's new record is out now & available at CDBaby...
Our good friend Danny Cohen's new record, The Fleas Of 1,000 Dannys, just came out on mp3. Anyone familiar with his past releases on Anti- and Tzadik knows that the only thing to do is drop everything and get it now!

    THE FLEAS OF 1000 DANNYS
"A bluesy, visceral record with Cohen's trademark apocalyptic darkness and rich arrangements. The themes and style are more cohesive that past efforts, with succinct, memorable songs. The debut album he never had.

1,000 Dannys is DC's first true solo CD, as it only utilizes a drummer and lap steel (on 4 tracks). 'Don't Leave Me' features the legendary Charleston Grotto's Greg Cohen on arco bass solo, and 'Mt. Olympus' features Grotto's Fidel on slide."

Standout tracks: Buttered my Bread, Northstate, Residue, Bottom of my Mind, Premature Burial, Hands of Time

09 May 2009 | Lots of news from Soundzfromnowhere
Our friend Victor over at Soundzfromnowhere has a lot of cool projects going on right now.  Three compilations are in the works (
OneTwo, and Three), including the second installment of SFN000's "8ight" series with samples created by Dave MH of The Starry Tides).  Also, SFN000 just released the second installment of the fantastic My Digital Valentine shoegaze/dreampop compilation series, MDV Vol. 2!  Volume 2 is just as great as the first one, and includes dreamy new music from 16 contributors, including Reverse Engine's own Starry Tides (a collaboration with On Holiday and a remix done for the mighty Bang Bang Shoot Shoot). Enjoy!

07 May 2009 | Ghost Society debut EP out tomorrow!
Our massively talented friend Tobias Wilner (who you may know from his work with the amazing Blue Foundation, or Bichi) has a new project called Ghost Society, and they're having a record release show for their debut EP tomorrow. They will be performing live with NoMoreHeroes, and there will be DJ sets from both Thomas Morr (Morr Music) and Mew's Jonas Bjerre, at CPH Rust. For full details, check the Dead Peoples Choice site. O
ne of the tracks from their EP is a certain Swirlies cover that will also appear on the soon-to-be-long-awaited Sneaky Flute Moods netaudio tribute. Or is it already long-awaited? Much love to everyone who sent in music, and thank you in advance to those of you who are chugging away at your contributions. Hang in there, kids. We're closer than we've ever been...and now we're even closer...and now we're even closer still...

Reverse Engine brings you "Ship", the latest 7 song ep from docks, a one man, mostly electronic outfit from Southern California. "Ship" is 7 tracks of emotive ambient electronic/post rock with skittering beats and occasional strings, all fed through massive amounts of delay and reverb.

Thank you to everyone listening to this EP.  Early support has been HUGE!  Many thanks to DEEPGOA's Electronic Sessions for featuring this EP as a "good night" post.

Ten Digit ArmyBegin Today EP (2008)

  • 1. So Damn Predictable 2. Epiphany 3. Begin Today 4. Calico

Las Vegas-based home recording project Ten Digit Army is D.I.Y. to the core. Songwriter and multi-instrumentalist TDA plays every sound you hear--from vintage keyboards to reverbed guitars and overloaded drum machine beats. Ten Digit Army's first release for RER is four catchy, soulful songs from a far-off basement, a distant beacon from the desert. Many thanks to Masayuki @ Music Forest and Roland @ Machtdose podcast for being early supporters and spreading the word about this EP.
