Fest Anča awarded a Special Mention to my animated video for A Place To Bury Strangers’ “Now It’s Over”.
“The K.D. Documentary”, a short film about Kevin Durant written and animated by Reynolds Elementary students screens at LACMA next month, as part of the Los Angeles International Childrens’ Film Festival
“Now It’s Over” premiered on Stereogum on Friday, August 28th. It was subsequently picked up the Mexican flavors of Rolling Stone and FILTER, and Australia’s Music Feeds, which featured kind words for the video, and a full interview with A Place To Bury Strangers singer Ollie Ackerman.
My companion film to Geronimo Getty’s “Greyhound Blues” will screen alongside videos by Giraffage (“Tell Me”), J. Cole (“Wet Dreamz”), SBTRKT (“New Dorp. New York.”) and more, during the Visual/Sound/Walls opening night party at Cucalorus 2015. I’m not able to make it to the festival this year, but that doesn’t mean we can’t still be friends.
BooTown’s latest production, White Raven, uses shadow puppetry and stop-motion animation to explore the life of a bird born with the wrong color feathers. The show opened August 29th at Rudyard’s, with a series of pay-what-you-want repeat performances at Houston’s Alley Kat and Devin Borden Gallery running through Sept. 12. Tickets available at the door.
“Greyhound Blues” made its East Coast premiere at BAM Cinematek during the experimental film screening at ABP 2015. It screened alongside films by the likes of painter-animator Jonathan Hance and Stephanie Swart (whose work I’ve been into for a couple years).
I’m the director for first edition of Rush Process, a festival which will celebrate handcrafted animation as a vehicle for personal, political, and narrative self-expression. Submissions open today.
I spent about a week recording all sorts of guitar parts with a smoking hot, hand-wired tube amp prototype I was lucky enough to receive as a loaner from Charlie at Larrabee Instrument Laboratory.
“Argyle Kabuki” has been invited to screen as part of a special program at ITFS (Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film) this year, Experimental Abstract Animation.
