Rush Process

As founding festival director for Rush Process Festival of Handcrafted Animation, the only full-scale animation festival in the state of Texas, my duties included:

Festival Direction

  • Choosing the panel of judges for the competition section
  • Securing venues and sponsors
  • Creating submission guidelines and judging rubric, beginning with big-picture questions like: How do we define “handcrafted” for the purposes of the 2016 edition? and What amount of digital influence pushes a project out of the realm of “handcrafted” animation?
  • Reaching out to filmmakers to solicit submissions
  • Film curation (creating the running order for the competitions screening)
  • Coordinating and scheduling screenings and workshops
  • Arranging interviews and drafting press releases
  • Helped developed curriculum for and co-led the festival’s animation jam (the “Improv Meets Animation” workshop) in collaboration with Traci Lavois Thiebeaux and Jeromy Barber of Beta Theater.

Digital Production

  • Digital strategy & execution
  • Designing an identity for the festival, including the logo, website, laurels, and awards:
  • Social media content creation
  • Micro video production
  • Design and micro copy for Facebook ads
  • Running the Dragonframe-powered GIF photo booth, co-created with festival Development & Promotions director Janine Waranowicz:
